Valletta, Malta is designated the European Capitol of Culture for 2018!
As declared by the Valletta 2018 Foundation: “…the citizens of Valletta and all other localities in Malta and Gozo may take this opportunity to explore and express their multiple identities and the many forms they take. Embracing the various elements that make up our heritage and give shape to contemporary expressions of culture also means acknowledging conflict, encouraging debate and promoting creative ways of approaching who we are, what makes us different from each other yet similar in many ways, and who we are on the way to becoming.”
Help shape our project!
As part of this celebration of Maltese culture, Toronto’s Crazy Dames will be visiting Malta in the summer of 2018 for an artist residency with Fondazzjoni Kreattivita. We will produce an interactive mapping project exploring the themes and multi-generational personal narratives that trace how contemporary living and history are intertwined in this unique, diverse culture.
This survey is the first step in the process! We are interested in hearing from individuals with various connections to Malta and Gozo including Maltese citizens, those of Maltese heritage internationally, as well as individuals who have visited or spent significant time there.
We hope to have your input for this project by early July 2018.
Please note the writing you share with us may be quoted in printed materials developed as artworks.
